So the state of Minnesota shut down for, I believe, the first time in the history of the state.

The democrats tried to put through a 'lights on' bill just to keep the government going & it was not approved by the rep. maj. house & the governor said he wouldn't sign it: then they passed a 2 year resolution in the Senate which had the same roadblock.

All 'non-essential' functions of the state have been shut down, this includes drivers licenses, some child care services, rest areas are blockaded & will cost over $100,000 to close & that much or more to reopen thet estimate.... & a number of other facets of our government including 9,000 state employees have been sent home, and when their vacation pay runs out, they'll all get laid off if the state doesn't figure something out by then (I would be honestly shocked if they let that happen) Meanwhile: way to go Gov'n'r.

& Happy 4th of July!
